Start with Windows Win+V when you only need a built-in panel for recent clips. Microsoft documents a 25-item history, a 4 MB limit per item, and support for text, HTML, and bitmap content. Unpinned history is cleared when the PC restarts.
Choose Osenpa Clipboard when you need searchable local history, more ways to organize items, copied-file tools, Clipboard Stack, or encrypted Locked Notes.

This comparison explains which workflow each option covers. It does not rank speed, security or reliability. Windows account and sync settings can change Win+V behavior. Osenpa's regular history stays on the current PC but is not encrypted and does not provide cloud sync.

- Osenpa stores regular history in local SQLite. Auto-delete defaults to 24 hours but can be turned off or set from 1 to 360 hours. The history cap defaults to 1,000 items and can be changed from 100 to 100,000. Pinned and favorite items are protected from routine cleanup. Locked Notes is the encrypted area.

- Regular clipboard history is not encrypted. The app does not provide cloud sync, team sharing, DLP or password-manager behavior.
What Windows Win+V gives you
Press Windows logo key + V and choose Turn on the first time. After that, Win+V opens the built-in history so you can select a recent item, pin something you reuse, delete one item or clear unpinned history. Microsoft says the history holds 25 entries and accepts text, HTML and bitmap items up to 4 MB each.
Unpinned Win+V history is cleared when the PC restarts. Windows can sync supported clipboard text through a Microsoft or work account when its separate clipboard sync option is enabled. That is an optional Windows service, not a feature of Osenpa Clipboard Manager.
Choose the clipboard workflow
Start with the built-in option
Turn on Win+V, copy a few harmless text and image items, pin one, delete one and restart the PC when practical. If that workflow already solves the problem, do not add another app.
Define the missing capability
Write down the exact limitation you reached. Examples include finding an old phrase by source or date, keeping more than 25 items, organizing Favorites and tags, saving a dynamic Smart Collection, tracking file selections or pasting a known queue in order.
Set retention and filters
If you choose Osenpa Clipboard, set time-based cleanup from 1 to 360 hours or turn it off. Set the regular unpinned history cap from 100 to 100,000. Privacy filters are off by default; you can exclude applications, skip detectable private-window titles, enable built-in sensitive-text patterns or add a tested regular expression.
Separate secrets from history
Regular Osenpa Clipboard history is not encrypted. Locked Notes is the separate encrypted area for text you deliberately place there, and a forgotten PIN or passphrase cannot be recovered. Neither Win+V nor normal local history should be treated as a password manager.

Clipboard privacy mistakes
